New op-ed in Project Syndicate
I started this blog with a goal of one post per week. While I’ve had some good streaks, I’ve also fallen behind but not for lack of writing. Me and others at Economists for Ukraine often write op-eds that we try to place in widely read outlets, to maximize their impact. So I will periodically share some of these op-eds here.
Today, Project Syndicate published an op-ed I coauthored with Anastassia Fedyk titled “ Ukraine Is Far From Doomed “. In it, Anastassia and I compare the situation in Ukraine to the situation in Europe in 1941, two years after the start of World War II. Europe was in much worse shape then compared to Ukraine today, and there were many more reasons to be pessimistic about defeating Germany than there are about defeating Russia today. We describe the situation in detail and argue that, with appropriate assistance, Ukraine’s prospects are much better than Europe’s were two years into the war.
The op-ed is not behind a paywall, so please check it out!
